THE SUITCASE BROTHERS
jazz // country blues, piedmont blues, blues
Pere Puertas, who lives in Dallas, on guitar and vocals, and Víctor, harmonic and vocals, formed The Suitcase Brothers in 2000. Second-placed in the Solo/Duo category at the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis (USA), the Puertas brothers are amongst the finest acoustic blues twosomes in Spain.
Though influenced by such legendary duos as Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee and Paul Rishell and Annie Raines, The Suitcase Brothers have developed very much their own personal musical style.
Besides releasing three albums – Living with the Blues (2000), Walk On (2007) and Gettin’ Outta Town (2011) – to date, the boys have also recorded tracks for the soundtracks to two films directed by Achero Mañas: El Bola (which received four Goya awards) and Noviembre. In 2013, The Suitcase Brothers plan a new album and a video-documentary film about their journey to the International Blues Challenge.
