RAYNALD COLOM

jazz  //  rag time, hip hop, bam

Colom is, despite his youth, one of the most firmly established trumpeters, both in Spain and on the international scene. He has worked with such musicians as David Sánchez, Duquende, Manu Chao, Horacio Fumero, Perico Sambeat Michael Janisch, Greg Osby and Mulgrew Miller, amongst others. In 2005, he released My 51 Minutes, his first solo album, on the Fresh Sound New Talent label. A second effort followed in 2008, whilst in 2009 he presented Evocación, his most ambitious project, in which he fused flamenco and contemporary jazz in his own personal style. Raynald has played at leading jazz festivals and concert halls around the world. He was voted best trumpeter by the Catalan Jazz and Modern Music Association in 2002, 2004 and 2005 and received the Puig-Porret prize in 2010. In 2012 he launched his fourth CD, Rise, described as “solid, fresh and versatile jazz” by the magazine Cuadernos de Jazz. On it, he realised the dream of any jazz musician: to record with a string orchestra. Rise is also his most varied album musically, as it contains sounds that range from postbop to hip hop, from classical to French chanson.
