MUT TRIO
jazz // comtemporary & experimental jazz
A few years ago, after playing a series of jam sessions for sheer enjoyment, Miguel Fernández (sax), Albert Juan (guitar) and Oriol Roca (drums) decided to record their first album. Two years after that debut disc, entitled 1374, they got back into the studio together to make a follow-up, 2395. The music on this sophomore album – particularly the original compositions and their versions of two classics by Gershwin and Bernstein – defies all stylistic stereotypes and labels to seek space, conversation, building up a discourse that gradually takes shape over the course of the album’s running time of exactly two thousand, three hundred and ninety-five seconds. The result is music without prejudice, more like a three-voiced fugue than something you would expect from a jazz ensemble.
