CABOSANROQUE
experimental / contemporània // instrumental
Named after an old transatlantic liner, CaboSanRoque formed in 2001 to explore the fun, evocative side of experimental music using invented instruments made from such everyday objects as sewing machines, washing machines, Scalextric sets, staples and abandoned furniture. In recent years, the group’s work has focused on tapping the musical and dramatic potential of automatic mechanical instruments and their combination with human performers. So far, this interest in experimenting and building music machines has produced three shows and a sound installation. CaboSanRoque’s latest projects are Maquinofòbia pianolera, a concert for piano and mechanical orchestra composed and performed with the experimental musician Carles Santos, and the sound installation Los árboles aullaron, produced by Fonoteca Nacional, which is managed by CONACULTA, the Mexican Council for Culture and the Arts. The band will perform this latest work live at Vive Latino 2013.
