Muyayo Rif are a band formed in 2000 in Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona). During their early years, they played a fusion of urban rhythms – punk, ska, reggae, Latin, rock etc. – but in 2007 they underwent transformation, forging a more professional style in order to seek their own sound and a different live show. Teaming up with Gambeat to produce the band’s two latest albums (P’alante and Construmón) was a shot in the arm that enabled Muyayo Rif to voice their social critique in an optimistic, festive spirit. In recent years, they have played live alongside the likes of Che Sudaka, La Troba Kung-Fú, Kool & The Gang, La Pegatina, Banda Bassoti, Skatalites, Els Pets, Raimundo Amador, Boikot and Reincidentes. Having played festivals in the Netherlands, Russia, Italy, France and so on, as well as performing at venues all over Spain, the band has cemented a leading position on the fusion music scene. On stage, Muyayo Rif generate a positive, punkish energy as they explore joyful ska and other reggae styles. The band released their third studio album in April 2013.
