The winner of such prestigious accolades as the National Prize for Guitar and the Prize for Music, Cañizares is also the first and only flamenco guitarist flamenco to have played as a guest with the Berlin Philharmonic, performing the Concierto de Aranjuez with the German orchestra, conducted by Simon Rattle, at the Teatro Real. Cañizares worked with Paco de Lucía for ten years, and has also teamed up with such great artists as Enrique Morente, Camarón de la Isla, Serrat, Alejandro Sanz, John Paul Jones, Michael Brecker and Al Di Meola, amongst others. He has also performed as a guest on more than one thousand records. As a soloist, moreover, he has made six albums, the latest entitled Goyescas – Granados por Cañizares (Sony Music, 2012).
