A performer born in Barcelona with an international trajectory, Josep Maria Balanyà is a solo pianist and a sound artist. He has conducted orchestras in his improvised style in several countries, mainly in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and America. Contemporary and experimental music fused with improv are the specialities that he has developed in a discography spanning fifteen albums. He also creates works for piano, voice, electronica, dance and sound installations, as well as featuring regularly on the bill at festivals in Europe and America. His works include, amongst others, Un peu à gauche, svp, Oxymoron Orchestra, 77 Trier West, Aqua Aeterna, Ultramarinos 451, Intrus@, whilst he has performed with such artists as Hans Koch, Joachim Kühn, Michiel Borstlap, Claudio Pontiggia, Ksenija Lukić, Neue Ensemble Hannover, Franz Hautzinger and Carlos Zingaro.
