Albert Serra puts the finishing touches to the filming of Singularity at PLANTA Sorigué
“The film has a Baroque aesthetic with a very elaborate plastic treatment. After filming in Ireland, at PLANTA I found the setting I was looking for; Sorigué immediately understood my project and gave me what I was looking for: exteriors with a technological and modern industrial aesthetic, in which to create a deceptive world. PLANTA is a wonderful setting, ideal for this shoot. I am grateful to Sorigué for the enthusiastic way in which they have collaborated,” Albert Serra said.
This collaboration has been made possible by the agreement that Sorigué signed with the Institut Ramon Llull and the production company Andergraun Films.
The head of the Institut Ramon Llull’s Department of Creation, Damià Martínez, thanked Sorigué for its participation in this project and says that he is convinced the collaboration will be maintained in other future projects.
Sorigué, one of the main Catalan companies promoting cultural actions in Catalonia, thus strengthens its involvement in culture.
Ana Vallés, the president of Sorigué, has said that the agreement signed this year with the Institut Ramon Llull is intended to forge bonds between the cultural and business worlds: “We want to associate the company with cultural initiatives that contribute talent, knowledge and innovation, the goal of the PLANTA project.” Vallés added, “We are very satisfied to once again bring the world of the cinema to Lleida. After the exhibition by the filmmaker Wim Wenders and the presentation of projects such as MOVIEMENT, Sorigué reaffirms its commitment to bring cultural initiatives to the city of Lleida. The experience with Albert Serra and the Institut Ramon Llull has been very satisfactory because of the agility with which the project has been managed.”
Premiere at the Venice Biennale
Albert Serra’s film Singularity is part of the project curated by Chus Martínez to represent Catalonia at the Venice Art Biennale, which opens on 9th May. This proposal was chosen by a panel of experts in the context of a public competition announced by the Institut Ramon Llull. Since 2009 Catalonia has been present at the Venice Art Biennale within the Collateral Events programme, with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull. Catalonia has also been present at the Architecture Biennale since 2012.
Serra has conceived a large audio-visual installation that is both innovative and international, using several simultaneous screens and projections. Spectators will be looking at an audio-visual piece divided into episodes that proposes mediation between the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, with images of the known and the unusual.

In 1985 Sorigué set up one of the first private foundations in Catalonia in order to carry out actions with social returns through grants, sponsorship, content, collaborations and exhibitions.
