The Barcelona pavilion at Beijing Design Week opens its doors with a major exhibition

Barcelona, guest city at this year’s Beijing Design Week (BJDW), inaugurated its pavilion tonight at an event presided by the mayor of the city, Xavier Trias, and the director of the Institut Ramon Llull, Àlex Susanna. Located at 79-Tank, an impressive circular precinct in district 751, which was once a gas tank, the Barcelona pavilion is the venue for the exhibition “Barcelona, a future inspired by design” which presents the city as a complete ecosystem of design and creativity. It includes a large format audiovisual and over a hundred information modules, which offer the visitors the experience of living in and discovering Barcelona from different perspectives. The show also has a selection of 30 objects which are representative of design today, as well as a tribute to the classics of 20th century Catalan design. The exhibition has been designed by Exitdesign.

Barcelona design and architecture descend on Beijing

Barcelona is the guest city at the Beijing Design Week (BJDW), Asia's most important event in the areas of design, architecture and urban planning. This platform, considered a highly strategic one with regards to a cultural and commercial exchange between the East and the West of the aforementioned disciplines, is one of the best showcases to present the Catalan capital's design and architecture to the Asian market.

Barcelona, guest city at Beijing Design Week in September

Barcelona will be the guest city at the forthcoming Beijing Design Week (BJDW), one of the most relevant events in Asia in the field of design, architecture and urban planning which will be held from 26 September to 3 October. With this invitation, Barcelona will present a programme that has been coordinated by the Institut Ramon Llull including several exhibitions and activities, conferences, collaborations with local design centres and the visit of a commercial delegation with businesses from the design sector.

Barcelona to be the guest city at Beijing Design Week 2014

The Minister of Culture, Ferran Mascarell, the Mayor of the Barcelona, Xavier Trias, and the director of the Institut Ramon Llull, Àlex Susanna, announced this morning at a press conference at the headquarters of the IRL that Barcelona will be the guest city at Beijing Design Week (BJDW) in 2014. The BJDW is the most important design, architecture and contemporary creation festival in Asia and is consolidating itself as one of the most important in the world. The Insititut Ramon Llull, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Barcelona City Council, has been working for the last two years to achieve this invitation, a unique opportunity to demonstrate the excellence of our design and architecture at an international level, and to expose the companies in this sector to the Asian giant’s market.
