The McNally Jackson bookstore (New York) will host the launch of Xeixa: Fourteen Catalan Poets Poetry anthology, a poetry anthology featuring work by authors including Màrius Sampere, Teresa Pascual, Antònia Vicens and Joan Margarit, at 6.00 pm on 16th November. Tupelo Press published the book thanks to support from the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL).

The Majorcan poet Carles Rebassa, invited to the Cairo Literature Festival

For six days Cairo (Egypt) will be the venue for the Cairo Literature Festival, a competition organized by the independent cultural association Sefsafa Culture and Publishing Arts. With the participation of authors from nearly 30 different countries in its last edition, the festival clearly aims to be international and has presented internationally renowned writers such as Orhan Pamuk and Peter Laugesen. The special focus of this year’s festival will be immigration.

An international contemporary theatre symposium at the Sorbonne’s Catalan Studies Centre

Entitled “Contemporary Drama: Rebirth or Extinction?”, the symposium is part of the Catalan Studies Seminar organized by Sorbonne University’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Research into the Contemporary Iberian World (CRIMIC), in Paris. It will be held from 12th to 14th October and is in collaboration with the Institut del Teatre and the Institut Ramon Llull, among others.

Laia Serret wins the 2nd “El català pel món” prize

Laia Serret Prunera, a teacher of Catalan literature at the University of Szeged (Hungary), has won the 2nd edition of the “El català pel món” literary prize. The prize is awarded by Godall Edicions for the best account by Catalan teachers abroad based on their own experience.
