Literature.  Paris, 12/10/2015

Entitled “Contemporary Drama: Rebirth or Extinction?”, the symposium is part of the Catalan Studies Seminar organized by Sorbonne University’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Research into the Contemporary Iberian World (CRIMIC), in Paris. It will be held from 12th to 14th October and is in collaboration with the Institut del Teatre and the Institut Ramon Llull, among others.

The symposium’s programme is distributed over three days, from 12th to 14th October, with morning and afternoon sessions structured in three main themes: theoretical approaches and contemporary theatre practice in Catalonia and Spain, innovation in the theatre and, lastly, the body and the voice.

The contemporary drama symposium is directed by Mònica Güell, director of the Catalan Studies Centre in Paris, the playwright and novelist Carles Batlle, and the doctor of Catalan philology Enric Gallèn. Each of them will chair one of the five sessions in the symposium.

It also benefits from the collaboration of different Catalan institutions like the Institut Ramon Llull, the Institut del Teatre, Pompeu Fabra University and the Diputació de Barcelona, and other institutions such as the Paris-Sorbonne University Council, École doctorale IV, CRIMIC and PRITEPS.

The last session of the symposium will be chaired by José Sanchis Sinisterra, the well-known playwright from Valencia
