Students from universities in the XarxaLLull where Catalan Studies are taught.

• To attend or have attended a minimum of 150 hours of Catalan language studies at any university in the XarxaLlull.
• To have knowledge and use of spoken Catalan equivalent to B2 level.

• Language course: advanced Level (CEFR C1)
  • 15 classroom hours with specialised teachers.
• Culture course
  • 5 hours on Catalan Sociolinguistics and Dialectology
• Cultural activities
  • Historical sites, monuments, natural landmarks
  • Conferences and workshops in cuisine, literature, etc.

Anyone interested must fill the application form available on the Institut Ramon Llull Virtual Office.

After submitting the application form, their Catalan language teacher will automatically receive a message with a link to an online form they must fill in with the following information:

• Verification that the applicant is attending or has attended a Catalan language course abroad. The teacher must also include an assessment of the applicants ‘level in the Catalan language.

The application will only be complete when the teacher has filled in the online form with the information above. At this time, the applicant will receive confirmation by email. Applications may be submitted between 14-29 October 2026, one day later than the student application deadline. Applications without the lecturer's report will not be considered valid.

Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements or do not submit their applications by the deadline will be excluded from the selection process. Any student applications received by the Institut Ramon Llull after 28 October 2026, and teacher reports received after 29 October 2026 shall be considered to have missed the deadline.

The deadlines for submitting applications and professors ‘s reports are regulated according to Barcelona time. Questions can be asked throughout the application period until the last day at14:00 p.m.Barcelona time.

A committee will be set up with representatives from IRL to assess the applications received, according to the following criteria:

1. That the applicant did not participate in any edition of the Summer language stay in Valencia, the Catalan Language University Campus or the Summer language stay in the Balearic Islands. Assessment: up to 2 points                           

2. Catalan language certificate from Institut Ramon Llull. Assessment: up to 2 points

• That the applicant has received a Catalan language certificate from Institut Ramon Llull : 2 points
• That the applicant has taken any certificate of the current year: 1 point

3. The reasons the applicant is learning Catalan. Assessment: up to 3 points

• Students' professional and academic reasons will be considered

4. Achievement in the Catalan language course or courses the applicant is attending or has attended at universities outside the Catalan -speaking areas. Assessment: up to 3 points

• Students’ academic performance and attendance and involvement in academic and cultural activities organized by Catalan professors will be considered.

Participation in the Summer language stay in Alghero is limited to three individuals from any given university and a maximum of six people from the same country, chosen based firstly on their achievement in the course or courses the applicants are attending or have attended.  In the event of receiving many applications from the same country or universitie, a limitation on the number of participants may be established based on the total number of applications received. 

In case of a tie, the applicants who have never participated in language stays organised or jointly organised by the IRL shall be given priority. If the situation cannot be resolved based on any other criteria, priority shall be given in the order the student’s applications were received.

There may under no circumstances be more than 16 participants in the Summer language stay in Alghero.

From 10 November, applicants may see whether they have been selected on the Institut Ramon Llull online noticeboard.

Applicants who meet the admissions requirements but were not selected initially will be put on the wait list.

Applicants selected for the Summer language stay in Valencia must confirm they will participate by sending an email to infollengua@llull.cat. No registration will be valid without this confirmation, and the form has been completed.

If any of the selected applicants decline their spot, those on the wait list may register for the Summer language stay in Valencia from 27 May to 5 June.

Applicants who turn down their spot in the Summer language stay in Valencia must notify Institut Ramon Llull before 16 June. If notification is given after this date, without just cause (health problems, academic or work issues), they will be barred from applying to the programme for the following two years.

In either case, the vacancies will be offered to applicants on the wait list based on the points from the assessment of the original applications.

The Institut Ramon Llull is not responsible for arranging or purchasing travel assistance insurance for participants in the programme.

Applicants selected who accept their place at Summer language stay in Valencia must take out travel assistance insurance that includes medical expenses and has coverage in Spain and carry it throughout the duration of the Summer language stay. They must also arrange any necessary permits to stay in Spain, if required. 

Applicants selected must submit a declaration of responsibility regarding the purchase of insurance, which the Institut will provide by email together with the confirmation form. 

In addition, applicants selected from the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom who accept their place at the Summer language stay must also hold a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). 

Participants who have not submitted the declaration of responsibility regarding insurance purchase and the EHIC will not be allowed to take part in the Summer language stay.
