”Paper Tears”, an exhibition by Claudia Pagès Rabal, opens in Venice: Catalonia’s contribution to the 2026 Art Biennale

The Minister of Culture, Sònia Hernández, presided over today's opening, accompanied by the Director of the Institut Ramon Llull, Anna Guitart. The exhibition is part of the Eventi Collaterali of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, and is curated by Elise Lammer. It will remain open to the public until 22 November.

Open call for international publishers and agents to participate in the IRL Fellowship from September 20th to 25th, 2026

Institut Ramon Llull is organizing the 25th edition of its fellowship targeted at international publishers and agents and to be held in Barcelona during the 44th edition of the Setmana del Llibre en Català (Books in Catalan Week). First launched in 2007, when the Catalan Culture was Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Since then, over 220 professionals from 45 countries have participated in this fellowship.

Catalan literature raises its international profile at London Book Fair

From 10 to 12 March, the Department of Culture hosted a stand to drive the internationalisation of Catalan literature and the literary sector. Twenty-six Catalan publishers (eight more than in the previous edition) took part in this major annual event. In addition, ten literary agencies participated in the International Rights Centre at the fair.

Jordi Savall awarded the prestigious 2026 Ernst von Siemens Music Prize

The Catalan musician will receive the award, worth €250,000, on 23 May in Munich, Germany. This recognition from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation follows a tribute this year by the Berlin Philharmonic, which has dedicated part of its season to Savall's music and where he made his debut as a guest conductor.
