Institut Ramon LLull

90 students from 22 countries to take part in 2026 language immersion stays

06/07/2026

The Institut Ramon Llull is promoting three language and cultural immersion stays in Valencia, Girona, the Costa Brava, Andorra and Mallorca. One of these stays, the Campus universitari de la llengua catalana (Catalan Language University Campus), marks its 25th edition, having hosted over 700 students from more than 40 countries.

This summer, the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL) is organising three language and cultural training stays for students of Catalan from Xarxa Llull, a network of international universities. The initiatives – the Estada lingüística d’estiu a València (Summer Language Stay in Valencia), the Campus universitari de la llengua catalana (Catalan Language University Campus) and the Estada lingüística d’estiu a les Illes Balears (Summer Language Stay in the Balearic Islands) – will bring together a total of 90 students from 22 countries to strengthen their language skills, enhance their knowledge of Catalan culture and forge lasting bonds among participants.

These stays represent an added value offered by the IRL to students of Catalan worldwide, serving as one of the main tools for building engagement and promoting Catalan studies internationally. Through language courses, workshops, lectures, visits and cultural activities, students can enjoy a fully immersive linguistic and cultural experience in Catalan-speaking areas and become future ambassadors for the Catalan language and culture around the world.

A quarter-century of the Campus universitari de la llengua catalana

In 2026, the Campus universitari de la llengua catalana will mark its 25th edition. A joint initiative between the Government of Andorra and the IRL, the campus has offered a unique linguistic and cultural immersion experience across Catalonia and Andorra for two and a half decades.

Over this period, more than 700 students from over 40 countries have taken part, sharing an experience that combines academic training, community living and the opportunity to discover the region. Each year, the programme receives around 90 applications for 30 places, making it the most highly sought-after stay.

The campus’s impact extends beyond language learning. Several former participants have gone on to pursue professional careers linked to Catalan studies. Over the years, the campus has also welcomed prominent figures from the cultural and academic worlds.

Three stays to experience Catalan firsthand

Estada lingüística d’estiu a València

From 5 to 18 July 2026, 30 students from the Xarxa Llull from 15 countries around the world will take part in this stay, organised in collaboration with the Universitat de València. Participants will study at B1 and B2 levels and will take part in activities designed to explore the city’s historical, artistic and social heritage.

Classes will be complemented by workshops and sessions dedicated to Valencian culture, as well as guided visits that encourage real-life language practice in everyday contexts.

Campus universitari de la llengua catalana

From 19 July to 2 August 2026, 30 students from 12 countries will take part in this special edition of the campus. The stay will combine A2- and B1-level courses at the Universitat de Girona with cultural activities in Girona, the Costa Brava and Andorra.

The aim is to offer a comprehensive experience that allows participants to gain firsthand experience of the social, cultural and linguistic reality of Catalonia and Andorra while being immersed entirely in Catalan.

Estada lingüística d’estiu a les Illes Balears

The third programme will take place from 30 August to 11 September 2026 in Mallorca. With the participation of 30 students from 13 countries, the stay will offer B1- and B2-level courses at the Universitat de les Illes Balears.

The programme includes cultural activities and guided visits to explore Mallorca’s historical, artistic and social heritage and to gain a deeper understanding of the linguistic and cultural reality of the Balearic Islands.
