 (1)     European Digital Certificate: A certificate issued by a qualified certification authority recognized by the European Union. You can consult the list of qualified EU providers.

If you wish to verify the validity of your digital certificate beforehand, you can use the e-TRAM 2.0 testing services provided by the Consorci d’Administració Oberta de Catalunya (AOC) at the following address: Procedures and procedures - Training institution A 

 Depending on the service or procedure, the list of accepted certificates may be restricted according to the specific aspects of its security policy and/or applicable regulations. 

To submit documentation relating to files opened before 01/01/2026, accreditation (username-password) remains valid until the closure of the file, in accordance with the regulatory bases of the procedure.

    About Digital Certificate

    What is it?

    • It is secure electronic identification for individuals and legal entities on the Internet.
    • It is issued by a recognized certification authority. You can check whether your digital certificate is included in the list of qualified certification authorities of the European Union. If you do not have a digital certificate, you should submit your request through one of the companies included in the list.

    What is it used for?

    • To identify the holder in an unequivocal way.
    • To carry out online procedures.
    • To sign electronic documents.
    • To guarantee the integrity and authenticity of the transaction or document.
    •  To ensure the confidentiality of communication.

    Types of digital certificates:

    • On a physical card with a chip (example: electronic DNI).
    • Installed on the computer (example: idCAT certificate).

    Digital certificates valid for the Institut Ramon Llull:

    • Qualified digital certificates from any country of the European Union (Regulation EU 910/2014). You can consult the list of qualified EU providers.
    • They must be accepted by the validator of the Consorci d'Administració Oberta de Catalunya. You can test it here.
    • For legal entities, certificates of individuals are accepted if they identify the legal representative. Documentation of the entity (articles of incorporation, statutes) and documents validating the legal representation (notarized powers of attorney, etc.) must be submitted. The Institut Ramon Llull will review the documentation and will issue the necessary requests in case of errors or missing documents.

    About idCAT Mòbil/Cl@ve

    About idCAT Mòbil/Cl@ve 

    What are they? Identification and electronic signature systems for citizens. They work by sending a one-time password to your mobile phone. 

    How are they used? You must register your phone number and contact details with either the Generalitat Virtual Office (idCAT) or the Spanish Administration (Cl@ve). 

    Who can use it? 

    • Individuals: They can identify themselves directly. 
    • Legal entities: Only if the legal representative is identified. Documentation for the entity and proof of legal representation (deeds, notarized powers of attorney, etc.) must be provided. IRL staff will review the documentation and, if necessary, request additional information. 

    Applicants from outside the EU: It is recommended to use idCAT Mòbil, which can be activated through video identification. Confirmation is sent by email within a maximum of 48 hours (business days).

    Who is required to interact digitally with the Institut Ramon Llull?

    According to current regulations (Law 39/2015, Decree 76/2020, Law 18/2020), the following are required to carry out procedures exclusively by electronic means: 

    •  Companies and entities 
    •  Registered professionals 
    •  Representatives of individuals who are required to do so 
    •  Public employees acting in their official capacity 
    •   Self-employed individuals and entrepreneurs 
    •   Participants in selection processes  

    Natural persons may choose the means of communication, except when the regulations require them to use electronic means.
