Institut Ramon LLull

Directed by Pep Ramis and María Muñoz and with support from the Institut Ramon Llull, the Mal Pelo company will present “The Mountain, the Truth & the Paradise” at the Agora de la danse in Montreal from November 21-24. The performances are part of the “Culture Catalane" cycle, which will take place between September 2018 and July 2019 at performing arts venues across Montreal and Saguenay and aims to promote Catalan cultural activities.

The IRL has scheduled a panel session under the title Dance and Architecture in Catalonia: Creation, public sphere, cultural legacy and landscape during the 12th edition of the Internationale Tanzmesse in Dusseldorf (Germany). Marcos Morau, founder and choreographer of La Veronal, is considered one of the most intelligent dance makers to have emerged from Europe in recent years. His style is sophisticated, delightfully illogical and a joy to watch. Their latest show 'Voronia' is presented as part of Dance Umbrella, London’s international dance festival, with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull. 

The Catalan dancer is taking part in the Kaleidoscope workshop, in Paris, to give three performances in October. On the 13th he will be previewing his performances, to be given on 24th and 25th October, in which he will present two of his shows, Cel, and his latest work, Maibaum.

The pioneering contemporary dance festival Seine-Saint-Denis International Choreographic Encounters has programmed Albert Quesada’s Wagner & Ligeti on 30 and 31 May this year at La Commune d’Aubervilliers. The International Choreographic Encounters are held this year from 5 May to 13 June, as always in various cities in the Seine-Saint-Denis department.

The Institut Ramon Llull is taking the Catalan artist’s circus to the city as part of the Hautes Tensions Festival on 4 and 5 April. He will be presenting his show Pelat, a story of the relation between a man and a piece of wood. 

Four Catalan theatre and dance companies have scheduled performances for the Christmas holidays in the provinces of León, Madrid, Segovia and Ciudad Real. The Companyia Roberto G. Alonso will be in Ponferrada; Marcel Gros in Arganda del Rey, Meco and Segovia; Brodas Bros in La Solana and Torrejón de Ardoz; and the Companyia de Pep Bou also in Segovia. Moreover, Pere Faura’s dance company is performing this Friday at the MOVE! Festival in Krefeld, with the show “Sin baile no hay paraíso”. Sònia Sánchez and Roger Bernat are the Catalan artists invited to the fifth multidisciplinary Chantiers d’Europe Festival organised at the Théâtre de la Ville de Paris between 3 and 28 June. The festival is designed to introduce new ideas about the forms of representation and relations with the audience, as well as new generations of European artists. This year artists from the countries of Southern Europe have been invited.

The choreographer and dancer Pere Faura presents a threefold event at the dance festival Ambivalence(s), which will be held from 22 to 28 May in Valence (Drôme), a town in the south of France, whose title this year is “(No) Sex (No) City”. La Intrusa Danza is a contemporary artistic creation company formed in 1996 by Virginia Garcia and Damian Muñoz, creators and art directors. Their work includes research and multi-disciplinary approaches based on music, video, and other formats. They combine their own creations with choreographic works for other companies, collaborations with well-known theater directors and advertising.
