Teresa, a lecturer at the Valencian School of Architecture, is troubled by the sudden disappearance of her most gifted student, Carles Miquel. The young man had been working diligently on a thesis about the Atlantropa project, which aimed to drain the Mediterranean Sea to create new land for farming and habitation. While Carles remains missing, Teresa travels to Hungary to attend a ceremony honouring an architectural project she once designed with Eszter Lovász, an old acquaintance from her time in Paris. There, she uncovers the buried stories and histories of people and projects destined for ruin.
