Antònia Vicens (Santanyí, 1941) is a writer with a long and acclaimed career in fiction and poetry, with a singular, searing voice that firmly established her as one of the great poetic voices of our time. She has received numerous accolades, including the Creu de Sant Jordi (1999); the Ramon Llull Medal (2004), which she declined in protest against the Balearic government’s language policies; the National Culture Prize (2016); the National Poetry Prize (2018); and the Catalan Literary Lifetime Achievement Award (2022). Her work has been translated into German, French, Portuguese, Serbian and Spanish.
