Samples and Booklets

Grants to translate samples of works written in Catalan or Aranese and to produce booklets for promotional purposes

Introduction

The applicant should consult the Grant Rules and the Grant Call, given that some changes have been made with respect to previous years. The application forms filled out must be from the current year 2019.

This summary is for information purposes only and is not legally binding.

PURPOSE

To carry out the following activities within the grant-award year:

  • translation of samples of works written in Catalan or Aranese for promotional purposes
  • production of booklets to promote Catalan and Aranese literature abroad

RECIPIENTS

Self-employed individuals or legal entities, public or private, Spanish or foreign.

GRANT-SUPPORTED EXPENDITURES

The concepts covered by the grant are:

  • the cost of translating the sample
  • the cost of translating the author's biography
  • the cost of translating related content (press articles, reviews).

The sample to be translated may not exceed 15% of the text of the original work.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION

  1. Spanish applicants, self-employed individuals and legal entities:
  2. Foreign applicants (self-employed individuals and legal entities) who have applied for a grant to the Institut Ramon Llull in the past.
  3. Foreign applicants (self-employed individuals and legal entities) requesting an Institut Ramon Llull grant for the first time. In this case, accreditation is required. The Ramon Llull Institut is responsible for generating and sending this after having verified the documentation accrediting the applicant’s identity.

The accreditation (user and password) is valid for five years from the date of issue, unless there is some change in the documents provided, of which the IRL must be informed.

Please take into account that you should request your accreditation at least 48 hours before the application deadline.

APPLICATION DATES

This line of grants has two calls per year.

  • First call: from the day after the date of publication in the DOGC (January 31, 2019) until April 30, 2019.
  • Second call: from the day after the date of publication in the DOGC (June 11, 2019) until October 16, 2019.

Recipients may submit three applications per call.

SUBSTANTIATING THE GRANT

The applicant must substantiate at least 80% of the requested (and eligible) amount in order to receive the awarded grant, or the grant will be revoked.

VIRTUAL OFFICE

Documents can be consulted online at the virtual office.

Additional documentation, when necessary, and supporting documents can be uploaded to the IRL website through the virtual office.

In the case of self-employed individuals, this documentation can be also delivered in person in paper format.
