Claudia De Medio
Claudia De Medio was born in Turin in 1998. She is a predoctoral researcher at the University of Turin, in joint supervision with the University of Barcelona, where she is writing a dissertation on visual experimentation in Catalan and Spanish poetry of the historical avant-gardes.
She has translated La infanticida and several short stories by Víctor Català, as well as various poems by Vicent Andrés Estellés published in the anthology Ignoriamo Petrarca, a volume in which she took part after being selected as one of the winners of the AISC Young Project. She also translates from Spanish and is currently translating other works of Catalan literature. She has published several articles and is a member of literary associations. Since 2021, she has lived in Barcelona on several occasions, carrying out research stays for her dissertation and internships at the CRAI Library and Archive – Pavilion of the Republic, as well as at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she worked as an Italian language teaching assistant.
She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures at the University of Turin, and attended several literature courses promoted and funded through scholarships by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. She also took part in the specialization course in Italian–Catalan/Catalan–Italian translation organized by the Institut Ramon Llull, in collaboration with the University of Vic and the UOC, during the 2021–2022 academic year. She served as interpreter for the writers Marta Orriols, Carlota Gurt and Gemma Ruiz Palà from Catalan into Italian at events organized in Turin on the occasion of Sant Jordi.
