Tiziana Camerani
Tiziana Camerani has been a freelance translator since 1999, specializing in translations from Catalan, French, and English into Italian in the fields of publishing, cultural industries and creative arts (www.parole-parole.it). Since 2009, beginning with Catalonia’s first official pavilion at the Venice Biennale, she has been the reference translator into Italian for the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL) for all content related to Catalonia in Venice, which is produced and organized by the IRL. Since 2011, she has been the official translator and editor of Louvre Museum (handling exhibitions, audio guides, permanent collections, and media).
Her career as literary translator from Catalan into Italian began in 2009 with La felicitat (Happiness) by Lluís-Anton Baulenas (La felicità, Voland). In recent years she has devoted her efforts to introduce contemporary Catalan women writers to Italian public - new, intense and daring voices that challenge readers with their insights, such as Gemma Ruiz Palà and Núria Bendicho Giró. For her translation of Terres mortes by Núria Bendicho Giró (Terre morte, Voland, 2024) she was awarded the XIII international prize Ramon Llull de Traducció Literària, for Best translation from Catalan 2024.
Besides translation, she is fond of classical music (she also sings) and of Venice, where she practices “voga veneta”, the Venetian technique of rowing while standing up and facing forward (like gondoliers).
