Barcelona will be the guest city at the forthcoming Beijing Design Week (BJDW), one of the most relevant events in Asia in the field of design, architecture and urban planning which will be held from 26 September to 3 October. With this invitation, Barcelona will present a programme that has been coordinated by the Institut Ramon Llull including several exhibitions and activities, conferences, collaborations with local design centres and the visit of a commercial delegation with businesses from the design sector.
This Thursday, the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Artur Mas, overseesthe constitution of the new Management Board of the Institut Ramon Llull, as a result of which Barcelona City Council will become a member of the Consortium. The meeting to constitute the Institut's chief governing body is being held following the Catalan government's approval on 28 January of the modification to the statutes whereby Barcelona City Council will join the Generalitat on the IRL Consortium, representing a refounding of this institution. The meeting will also be attended by the Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias; the Catalan Minister for Culture, Ferran Mascarell; the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Knowledge, Creativity and Innovation, Jaume Ciurana; and the Director of the IRL, Àlex Susanna.
