Bologna Book Fair takes place between 6 – 9 March 2023. The Catalan stand is part of the action plan implemented by the Ministry of Culture to impulse Catalan Literature and the International projection of the publishing sector.

The Ministry of Culture, through the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) and the Ramon Llull Institute (IRL), organizes once again an institutional stand, run by the Catalan Language Publishers'Association and the Catalan Publishers'Guild at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. The event takes place between 6 - 9 March with the participation of 40 Catalan institutions including publishing houses and associations specialized in children’s books and over thirty Catalan illustrators.

The exhibition space -showing the motto “Catalonia, land of books, Barcelona, city of Literature” and ICEC’s internationalisation brand Catalan Arts – Books – aims to give a joint image of the Catalan publishing sector. Also, the stand provides best conditions for professionals to conduct their business activities during the Fair.

This year, the Fair enters its seventh decade while continues being a place of reference for the field of children’s book. The participation in the Fair provides Catalan editors with relevant international projection. It is also a unique chance to buy and sell rights and to discover new talents. The Fair is also a unique platform for illustrators.

Taking the opportunity afforded by the Fair, the ICEC is presenting internationally its Digital Catalogue, dedicated to the illustration in Catalonia to support the sector and contribute to a better acknowledgement of it. This Catalogue is an online tool allowing publishing houses all over the world to discover and contact with Catalan illustrators.

On the other hand, the IRL will offer a space at the communal stand to host meetings with agents and international editors. Through these meetings will be explained the resources and services for foreign professionals. Also, it will be shared the new workbook carried out by the IRL including 20 titles of books for children and young adult books with outstanding sales or awarded with most prestigious honours within the sector.
