Peixos is the story of a writer who travels wherever she is invited to speak about her books. One day, while passing the time before a book club meeting, she spots a woman selling paper cones of fried fish in the village square. The world suddenly holds its breath.

The woman’s name is Victòria. She lives in an enchanted house strewn with talismans and guarded by a dog like Cerberus at the gates of Hell. As our narrator steps inside, she finds herself captivated by every detail, as though she has found the perfect woman in Victòria, someone who embodies every desired quality. Their passion feeds on sex, glasses of wine and trips to the lake. Until love and beauty curdle into pure danger.

“The dark staircase of desire has no handrail”, wrote Maria Mercè Marçal. The protagonist of Peixos tumbles all the way down.
