Targets are met, profits are up, and top management and staff are as satisfied as can be with their jobs. Suddenly, however, a strange smell begins to emerge throughout the office. What department is it coming from? And is there any way to get rid of it?

The hypocrisy and deceitfulness at the heart of Angle Group means that suspicions fall on one single employee. And not just any employee – a racialised one. So begins a story of workplace hostility and bullying, in which Hafid prizes open the cracks within a big corporation and its apparently well-oiled machinery: an apt metaphor for the society we live in.
