Albert Jordi had a knowledge of the world that fascinated Èlia. She met him on a dating site and she thought he was the one, until his homicidal revelation led her to abruptly show him the door. His reaction is to leave the town and erase her number from his phone. However, a few days later, she finds herself calling him again, obsessively, and pursues him to the point of breaking into his apartment.
This bold, uncompromising novel filled with death —real and envisaged— is told in densely spiralling prose by four competing first-person narrators: two women and two men. Set in the murky political scenario of 2017, it emphasizes the irrationality and gratuitousness of the violence that surrounds us, and explores the relationship between deaths that are imposed, chosen or fated. Ultimately, Persecució is a reflection on the possibility of forgiveness, the unknowable within ourselves and others, and the moral implications of comprehending evil.
