Children’s and YA : Middle Grade Fiction
A nine-year-old boy is traveling by boat with his parents. He gets so bored that he decides to disembark on an island and start his own, new country. From there he sends out a letter to the children of the world to join him in his cause.
Once he has a group gathered, they found the country based on letters that they send out to important grownups around the world and their replies. More and more kids join him on the island, and more and more complications arise. As in the work of Roald Dahl, the author is firmly on the side of the children.
