Care Santos was born in Mataró (Barcelona) in 1970. When she was 25 published her first book, a collection of short stories and, since then she has published twelve novels, six books of short stories, two books of poetry and numerous novels for children and young adult audiences. Her work has been translated into 23 languages. Among the titles that have received special mention are La muerte de Venus (finalist for the 2007 Primavera de Novela Prize); Habitaciones cerradas (Planeta, 2011), which was adapted for a television mini-series that aired on Televisión Española in 2014; Desig de xocolata (Ramon Llull Prize 2014); and Mitja vida (Nadal Prize 2017). She is a regular contributor to El Periódico de Catalunya and Mujer Hoy and conducts literary workshops.
