APPLICATIONS

Applicants must submit an application to the director of the Institut Ramon Llull using the application form available at the electronic office of the Institut (http://oficinavirtual.llull.cat/ov/). On that application form, the applicant must provide the name and the e-mail address of a lecturer at a university where the applicant has studied. That lecturer will have to provide a reference about the applicant’s suitability to practise as a Catalan Studies teacher abroad.

Once the application has been submitted, that lecturer will receive an e-mail containing a link to enable him or her to provide the aforementioned reference. On receipt of the corresponding reference, the Institut Ramon Llull will notify the applicant that the procedure has been correctly performed. No applicant will be accepted as a candidate without that reference.

In these cases, a lecturer at the university where the applicants have studied will need to personally submit a reference about the applicant’s suitability to practise as a Catalan Studies teacher abroad to seleccio-professorat@llull.cat. The Institut Ramon Llull and the universities will arrange a personal interview with the candidates deemed to better meet the criteria established by each university, in order to make the final selection.

COMPETENT BODY FOR RESOLUTION AND PROCESSING

The director of the Institut Ramon Llull is responsible for resolving this call, indicating the people who have been selected as well as those who, despite being accepted as candidates, have not been selected. The latter will stay on the reserve list in the event of a resignation or substitution.

The resolution will be published on the notice board of the Institut Ramon Llull and in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia.

The director of the Institut Ramon Llull is the competent body for the handling and resolution of any queries or incidents arising in relation to its execution.

RESOLUTION AND NOTIFICATION

The deadline for issuing and notifying the resolution on the selection of teachers is three months from the date of the deadline for the submission of applications. That resolution is not the last administrative channel, meaning that someone wishing to do so may lodge an appeal against it with the chair of the Board of Directors of the Institut Ramon Llull, within one month from the date of publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia.

If the deadline for issuing and notifying the resolution has passed and no express resolution has been issued and notified, applicants shall take that administrative silence as meaning that their applications have been rejected.

ACCEPTANCE

10.1 The people selected must sign a document confirming that they accept to teach Catalan Studies at the assigned university.

That acceptance does not imply any occupational or administrative connection with the Institut Ramon Llull. Consequently, the Institut does not assume any responsibility deriving from the contractual relationship between the teacher and the assigned university or from his or her actions, especially in relation to damages that may occur while carrying out his or her duties.

In accordance with the information shown on the Institut Ramon Llull website (www.llull.cat), the people selected are assigned to the universities to which this call applies. It is with those universities that they sign the contract determined by the legislation in force in the destination country, and they are subject to the specific clauses determined by each employing university, particularly in respect of not only the remuneration package and the tax scheme applicable to them, but also the time limits on employment.

10.2 The people selected must provide an official medical certificate proving that they are able to carry out the duties entrusted to them without any impediment.

The people selected cannot resign from teaching before the end of the respective academic period unless, at the discretion of the Institut Ramon Llull and the university, there is a duly justified reason of force majeure.
