The premiere of the Catalan composer's work has been commissioned by the Flashback 66 Association.

On Thursday 7 August, the Pablo Casals Festival of Vilafranca de Conflent will host the premiere of a piece by Catalan composer Ariadna Alsina. The piece is a commission by the Flashback 66 Association, a leading body in the programming and residencies of contemporary music in Occitania.

This commission has received the support of the Institut Ramon Llull through its international programming grant, one of whose aims is to promote Catalan creative output abroad within the professional circuit through composition and performance in the fields of classical and contemporary music.

The concert programme also features works by Jesper Nordin (Calm like a Bomb); Alexander Vert & José Miguel Fernandez (Double Jeu), and Michèle Tosi (Double Violin). All the pieces will be performed by violinist and conductor Diego Tosi.

Ariadna Alsina studied for her advanced degree in violin at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, and Sound Studies and Composition with Technologies at ESMUC and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. She went on to train further in instrumental and electroacoustic composition in Paris and Geneva. Her music has been performed at contemporary music festivals across Europe, the United States, and Latin America.
