From the 26th to the 30th of May during the residency entitled Weaving a Network is Embroidering a Cosmos, Faberllull Olot is hosting around ten artists whose work in textiles encompasses a range of perspectives. The initiative is curated by the collective amor rumor, composed of Edu Rubio and Blanca Arias, who seek to highlight the historical significance of sewing—a practice often undertaken by women and queer individuals, and one which has not always received the public visibility and recognition it merits. Participants will be invited to consider sewing and weaving as acts imbued with a deliberate intention to care for others. Reflections will also include the role of oral tradition and gesture in the transmission of knowledge.
Programme of Activities
Residents at Faberllull will take part in two events open to the public. Tomorrow, Wednesday, a Photography Embroidery Workshop will be held at the Local Association for the Elderly in Olot, which is already fully booked up. Participants will embroider upon historical photographs from the Garrotxa County Archive that depict the region’s textile heritage.
On Thursday at 6 p.m., the Espai Cràter in Olot will host a roundtable discussion entitled A Network of Hands: Textiles and Care, where several of the residents will explore how textile practice intersects with feminist concerns around care. The event is free of charge and open to all.
In addition to these two activities, residents will visit the exhibitions Andrinópoli and Prats d’indianes at the Garrotxa Museum, travel to Mieres to observe shepherd Prem Puig’s wool processing work and visit the Espai Nyamnyam. They will also engage in group work sessions on a variety of textile-related themes.

Olot Tèxtil
This residency is part of the broader Olot Tèxtil programme, which runs from April to August 2025. The initiative celebrates the past, present, and future of the textile industry in the capital of the Garrotxa region—an industry that historically shaped the city’s urban and economic development, and which today is being reimagined through more creative and community-driven forms. The programme includes heritage and contemporary exhibitions in local museums, alongside performances, concerts, walking tours, talks, and a wide range of other activities.
