Announcement of the Rules of the 2025 Ramon Llull International Awards

28/04/2025

The Ramon Llull Foundation has announced the Rules and Conditions of the 2025 Ramon Llull International Awards. These international awards, which are presented annually in Andorra, are intended to recognise individuals or institutions from beyond the Catalan-speaking areas who have worked to promote Catalan language and culture internationally.

Specifically, the Rules have been announced for the 34th International Award for Catalan Studies and Cultural Diversity – organised in conjunction with the Catalan Culture Congress Foundation – and for the 13th edition of the Ramon Llull Awards for the International Promotion of Catalan Creative Work and Literary Translation.

In this latter case, this year’s Rules include two categories:

Award for the Best Translation of Catalan Literature: translators who, at the time of the announcement, have not published more than five translations of Catalan literature are eligible for this award. The submitted work must have been published between 1 January and 31 December of the year preceding the announcement. The work must be solely authored by one translator. The purpose of this award is to encourage emerging translators. This award is selected through an open application. Applications may be submitted from 5 to 26 May 2025.

Award for the Career of a Translator of Catalan Literature: translators who, at the time of the announcement, have published more than five works of Catalan literature are eligible for this award. The purpose of this award is to recognise the careers of translators of Catalan literature and the work carried out by more established professionals.

The financial endowments of the Awards are as follows: the Award for the Best Translation of Catalan Literature is €4,000 and the Award for the Career of a Translator of Catalan Literature is €6,000. In the case of the Award for Catalan Studies and Linguistic Diversity, the amount is also €6,000 and the Award for the International Promotion of Catalan Creative Work is €4,000.

The full Rules and Conditions can be consulted on the website of the Ramon Llull Foundation. The jury’s decision will be made public during the annual awards ceremony, scheduled to take place in the autumn in the Principality.
