Alba Pujals trained at the Conservatori de Terrassa and the Juilliard School in New York. She has been part of projects such as The Bop Collective, Smack Dab Big Band and the BAO (Barcelona Art Orchestra), and has collaborated with European bands and artists like The Gramophone Allstars, New Cool Collective and C. Tangana. She has performed at renowned venues worldwide, including Dizzy’s Club NYC, Rose Theater (Lincoln Center NY), Bimhuis (NL), North Sea Jazz Festival (NL), Grachtenfestival (NL), Palau de la Música (BCN), L’Auditori (BCN) and the Terrassa Jazz Festival (BCN), among others, sharing the stage with highly acclaimed musicians such as Joshua Redman, Dick Oatts, Perico Sambeat and Carles Benavent.
Alba Pujals, on trombone and vocals, leads the quintet performing at Lincoln Center, with Jarien Jamanila on alto sax, Esteban Castro on piano, Jayla Chee on bass and Sarah Gooch on drums. Their performances blend a deep passion for jazz tradition with new sounds and compositions. Pujals has led projects such as her debut album APOLOGIA and Two Slides.
Pujals' performance won’t be the only Catalan act at Lincoln Center this spring. On April 12, Lincoln Center, in collaboration with the Institut Ramon Llull, will present 4132314, an epic collaborative project featuring the acclaimed Catalan vocal duo Tarta Relena, the brilliant compositional duo Los Sara Fontan and the Occitan percussion and vocal duo Cocanha.
