Faberllull is promoting the second edition of the international Hackató – a film residency for young talents aimed at fostering emerging voices on their path to professionalisation through support, training, creation, and production. Over two weeks, participants will shoot and edit a short film and, in addition, attend masterclasses.
The programme aims to serve as a link connecting Catalan filmmakers aged 18 to 30 with filmmakers from around the world, creating a network of contacts between different countries. It follows a hybrid format, offering both training and technical-artistic development, and will take place between Olot and Girona. This residency is an initiative of the Institut Ramon Llull, in collaboration with El Modern. Centre Audiovisual i Digital de Girona.
Activity Programme
These days, young participants are carrying out pre-production tasks, selecting locations, rehearsing with actors, and preparing everything with the art team. Filming will begin tomorrow, Friday, and will continue throughout the weekend. From Monday, post-production work will begin at El Modern’s facilities in Girona. On the morning of Friday, 21 March, the short film will premiere at the Truffaut Cinema in Girona, followed by a presentation simulating the pitching process that directors use to sell their films.
One of the key objectives of the Hackathon is education. For this reason, several masterclasses have been scheduled. On Thursday, 13 March, sound designer Elena Coderch delivered a practical workshop on sound recording for film. Next Thursday, Francisco Asensi will talk to participants about the audiovisual industry, intellectual property, new consumption models, and the effective use of social media, among other topics. Finally, on Saturday, 22 March, the Hackathon’s curator, Paula Comas, will discuss budgeting and project financing.
