Belgrade and Sarajevo host the third edition of Catalan Film Days

The third edition of the Catalan Film Days cycle, known as 'Dies de Cinema Català', will take place in Belgrade from October 24th to 27th. This year, the event will also be extended to Sarajevo from October 31st to November 6th.




The Delegació del Govern al Sud-est d’Europa (Government Delegation in Southeast Europe), with the support of the Filmoteca de Catalunya (Film Archive of Catalonia), has organized a cycle covering the last seven decades of Catalan cinema, while paying tribute to the recently deceased Ventura Pons and Agustí Villaronga.

Among the scheduled titles is “Creatura”, directed by Elena Martín, which won the most awards at Gaudí 2024. Three films that fall into the horror and intrigue genre are also available to watch: “Anguish”, directed by Bigas Luna, which was filmed in the US and in English; “Morir (o no)”, directed by Ventura Pons; and “Tras el cristal”, the debut work by Agustí Villaronga. Finally, the programme includes "Tren de sombras", by José Luís Guerín and "Dante no es únicamente severo", by Jacinto Esteva and Joaquim Jordà.

Besides these, the documentary "Bicicleta, cullera, poma" by Carles Bosch will be screened. t tells the story of Pasqual Maragall, the former mayor of Barcelona and President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and his experiences during the two years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

BELGRADE

In Belgrade, the cycle will commence on 24 October at 6:00 pm with a screening of Creatura, in the presence of its director Elena Martín. Commissioner David Pujadó and Eric Hauck, the delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Southeast Europe, will also attend.

All screenings will take place at Jugoslovenska Kinoteka.

On 28 October, a masterclass featuring Carles Bosch will take place at the Faculty of Dramatic Art. The event will include screenings of Balseros and Petitet and will feature the participation of Andrijana Stojkovic and Stefan Ivancic.

On the morning of the same day, a round table on Alzheimer's will be held at Dorçol Platz. There will be simultaneous translation into Serbian to assist non-Catalan and non-Serbian-speaking audience members. The following people will participate:

  • Eva Nebot. Director of the Advocacy and Institutional Relations Department of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation.
  • Nina Gramunt. Neuropsychologist expert in training and dissemination at the Pasqual Maragall Foundation.
  • Nadhezda Sataric. President of Serbian Association for Alzheimer's Disease – SUAB.
  • Zjelka Cvijan Gortinski, actress and therapist, member of SUAB.

SARAJEVO

In Sarajevo, the cycle will commence on October 31st at 6 PM with Elena Martín in attendance for the screening of Creatura. Commissioner David Pujadó and the delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Southeast Europe, Eric Hauck, will also participate.

On 31 October at the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo, the Carles Bosch Masterclass will be held with the screening of Petitet and the participation of the dean of the Academy.

The screenings, which will take place at the Kino Meeting Point, will begin on 1 November:
