9 activists, artists and creators from Palestine, Syria and Lebanon participate in an artistic residency in Faberllull Olot

18/09/2024

The meeting, organised jointly with the International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP), aims to be a healing experience for the participants, taking into account that the impacts of war and conflicts in the three countries are still particularly active.

Until 20 September, Faberllull Olot welcomes nine women from Palestine, Syria and Lebanon to reflect on Peace, based on their personal experience. They are women with diverse professional backgrounds, residing in various locations such as the Middle East, Europe, and Catalonia. These women vary in age and have experienced contrasting political and social environments.

The residency is titled "Mediterranean, weaving resilience. The value of peace". The residency is designed to ensure that the meeting serves as a restorative experience for the participants, considering the ongoing effects of war and conflicts in the three countries. For this reason, work dynamics are developed that promote the formation of connections between women, and safe spaces are created where they can share their pain and sorrow and provide support to one another.

For the first time, a meeting has been organised to bring together women from three different countries with the aim of promoting the professional and activist work done by women, especially in the context of peace. The focus is on valuing the daily experiences of women and breaking away from the dynamic that only certain people, referred to as “experts”, are qualified to discuss conflicts.
