The Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana performs in Los Angeles in a production directed by Gustavo Dudamel

Music.  29/04/2024

On May 16 and 17, the Walt Disney Concert Hall will host a version of Beethoven's opera Fidelio performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil), will offer a semi-staged production of Fidelio, Ludwig van Beethoven's only opera, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (United States United) on May 16 and 17, under the baton of renowned musician and conductor Gustavo Dudamel.

It is an innovative production created for both deaf and hearing audiences, which premiered in April 2022 at the prominent Deaf West Theater in the Californian city, and which featured the Venezuelan choir Coro de Manos Blancas, which will also be there this time.

To prepare the production, the Catalan Choir will do a week's preliminary work in Los Angeles with Dudamel and the LA Phil. It will be the fourth occasion on which the choir collaborates with the prestigious conductor and the first with the American orchestra.

The production can also be seen at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona (May 26 and 27), the Paris Philharmonic (May 31) and the Barbican in London (June 3). The Gran Teatre del Liceu Choir will also take part in this performance.

A very demanding tour that has the support of the Institut Ramon Llull, and represents recognition of the excellence and quality of the Palau and Liceu choirs.
