Xavier Escribà at the Galerie Olivier Waltman in Paris

Arts.  22/02/2022

The Galerie Olivier Waltman presents the exhibition Four Seasons by the Catalan painter Xavier Escribà from March 12th to April 16th, 2022 at its Parisian headquarters of the Marais.

Xavier Escribà was born in Paris in 1969. He is Bachelor of Fine Arts (specialty: painting) by the University of Barcelona and has a Higher National Diploma of Fine Arts by ENSB-A, Paris. Since 1989, he has received many awards. The artist presents at the Galerie Olivier Waltman, where he has exhibited regularly since 2014, his solo exhibition Four Seasons in which plein-air painting and the redefinition of the concept of "painting" play an important role, to the point of considering some of his works as wall sculptures or installations rather than paintings.

According to Xavier Escribà: “In this exhibition I want to address the issue of painting in the open air. How the landscape goes beyond its representation and its imagery. I believe that this work is a true testimony of everything that surrounds and generates it. This is what the Anges series evokes: I wanted each work to be charged with air and light; in other words, to be loaded with the landscape in which each of them was born. Four Season is an example of paintings that seek their own articulation to approach and become the wall themselves. Conceptually the series could be extended to infinity.”

The Galerie Olivier Waltman has two exhibition venues in Paris: Saint-Germain and the Marais, as well as another located in Miami. It represents national and international contemporary artists. Painters, photographers, designers, video editors and drawers are welcome. The Miami gallery, opened in 2010, aims to establish connections between the European and American markets.

Vernissage on the 12th March from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the presence of the artist.
