The German publishing house Diederichs-Verlag publishes “La memòria de l’arbre” by Tina Vallès under the title “Das Gedächtnis des Baumes”, translated by Ursula Bachhausen.




Tina Vallès (Barcelona, 1976) is philologist, writer, translator and publisher. In 2017 she won the award Premi Llibres Anagrama de Novel·la with “La memòria de l’arbre”, the novel with which she also won the award Premi Maria Àngels Anglada 2018 and the Premi Jean Monnet des Jeunes Européens 2020. The novel was also finalist of the award Premi Madarache 2020, and it has been translated to fifteen languages. Vallès is author of the short stories compilations “L’aeroplà del Raval” (2006), “Un altre got d’absenta” (2012) and “El parèntesi més llarg” (2013), which won the award Premi Mercè Rodoreda; and the novel “Maic” (2011). In 2020 she was given the award Premi Folch i Torres for the novel “Els pòstits del senyor Nohisoc”. Her last book for firs-time readers is “Mira” (2021), and she has recently published “El senyor Palomar a Barcelona” (2021). She is co-editor of the short stories platform Paper de vidre and regular collaborator in the newspaper Vilaweb.

“La memòria de l’arbre” is a beautifully written and constructed novel that gets to put the reader in the shoes of a child. It talks about the transmission of memories, about how these are made and conserved, where they are kept and how they can be lost.
