Institut Ramon LLull

The Institut Ramon Llull is to take part in the Bologna Children''s Book Fair

Literature.  ITALY, 14/06/2021

The festival takes place, for the second year running, in a digital format over 14, 15, 16 and 17 June and featured two webinars organised by the Institut Ramon Llull in collaboration with the Fair.

After more than 50 years, the Bologna Children's Book Fair is the meeting place of reference for the children's book sector. Taking part offers Catalan editors a significant international platform, as well as a unique opportunity to buy and sell rights and discover new talent. In 2017, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands were guests of honour at the 54th edition of the fair.

As part of the book fair there will be online meetings with a large number of stand-out invitees who will debate topics of interest to professionals in the sector. New for this year's edition, there is a large programme of events organised directly by BCBF Exhibitors.

This year, two people from the Institut Ramon Llull will take the opportunity to organise a programme of events for professionals online. Alongside this, the Institut Ramon Llull will also hold two webinars in collaboration with the fair: a panoramic snapshot of illustrators living in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands and a panorama of children's tales in Catalan.

  • Catalan middle-grade novels beyond the Strega
  • Catalan Illustrators - an overview curated by Arianna Squilloni

The presence of Catalan publishers, illustrators and literary agents at this fair is laid out in the lines of approach of the Department for Culture of the Government of Catalonia, with the aims of supporting Catalan literature and the gaining of international recognition for editors and illustrators in this regard.
