First edition of Cinema Lliure a la Biblioteca in Occitanie

Cinema.  14/03/2019

The latest edition of Cinema Lliure a la Biblioteca (Free Cinema at the Library), a film series that shows quality films produced here at home for free, is on now, from 28 March through 19 April. This year, for the first time, libraries from the Pyrenees–Mediterranean Euroregion (made up of Catalonia, Balearic Islands and Occitanie) are joining Barcelona’s libraries in a circuit showing documentaries produced in this euroregion. Cinema Lliure is organised by MagoProduction, in conjunction with APAIB (Associació de Productors Audiovisuals de les Illes Balears) and Godo Films. The initiative is also supported by Institut Ramon Llull and the Pyrenees–Mediterranean Euroregion.

For the 2019 edition, a network of libraries in the Pyrenees–Mediterranean Euroregion has been established, showing the following documentaries in the Balearic Islands: from the islands, Vida i mort dun arquitecte (2017) by Miguel Eek; representing Catalonia, Joana Biarnés. Una entre tots (2015) by Òscar Moreno and Jordi Rovira; and from Occitanie, Paysans de la mer. Paraules de pescadors (2016) by Bernard Arnauld.

For the first year, Cinema Lliure a la Biblioteca has expanded to Occitanie, with the following programming:

Médiathèque Le Soler - Le Soler / Espace Martin Vivès, Rue de la libération s/n - 6:30 pm
Thursday 28 March - To Kyma (David Fontseca) Tuesday 2 April – Vida i mort dun arquitecte (Miguel Eek) Tuesday 9 April – Paysans de la mer. Paraules de pescadors (Bernard Arnauld)

Médiathèque de Thuir - Thuir / 7 Passage Simone Jeantet-Violet
Friday 19 April 6:30 pm – To Kyma (David Fontseca)
Friday 19 April. 8:30 pm – Paysans de la mer, paraules de pescadors (Bernard Arnauld)

The organisers do their best to bring the creative team behind the film, directors or producers to the showing, which are always in the evenings between 6 pm and 8 pm.
With the goal of showing quality cinema for free throughout the year, in 2019 Cinema Lliure is holding two film series: In the summer, the eighth edition of Cinema Lliure a la Platja (Free Cinema at the Beach), showing films on several Mediterranean beaches at no charge; and, the rest of the year, Cinema Lliure a la Biblioteca, from 27 February to 19 April, showing documentaries for free at libraries in the Pyrenees–Mediterranean Euroregion (made up of Catalonia, Balearic Islands and Occitanie). Cinema Lliure a la Biblioteca kicked off two years ago, creating a network of libraries in Barcelona.
Cinema Lliure a la Biblioteca, with support from the Pyrenees–Mediterranean Euroregion and Institut Ramon Llull, is an original idea and organised by MagoProduction, in conjunction with APAIB (Associació de Productors Audiovisuals de les Illes Balears) and Godo Films.
