Over the summer, Open Letter launched a new podcast, “Two Month Review” in which the hosts talk about a single book section-by-section, week-by-week. The idea is that by reading slowly and treating the book like a form of serial entertainment, the podcast can really help build out the context for enjoying and understanding it, while also counteracting the never-ending churn of lists and one-sentence reviews that have taken over a good portion of today’s literary conversation. The third season of the "Two Month Review" is all About Mercè Rodoreda and her two books, The Selected Stories and Death in Spring, both translated from the Catalan by Martha Tennent and published by Open Letter.
Each “season” of Two Month Review highlights a new and amazing work of world literature, reading it slowly over the course of eight to nine episodes. Featuring a rotating set of literary guests—from authors to booksellers, critics, and translators—each episode recaps a short section of the book and uses that as a springboard for a fun (and often irreverent) discussion about literature in a general sense, pop culture, reading approaches, and much more. Talking about great books doesn't need to be deadly serious, and 2MR makes it fun to everyone (even if you’re not reading along).
So far The Invented Part by Rodrigo Fresán and Tómas Jónsson, Bestseller by Gudberger Bergsson have been featured by Two Month Review. The third season of the "Two Month Review" is all About Mercè Rodoreda and her two books, The Selected Stories and Death in Spring, both translated from the Catalan by Martha Tennent and published by Open Letter.
