The University of Verona hosts the international congress “Poetry, poetics and literary culture”, with the presentation of the translation of the Llibre de les bèsties

From 18th to 20th February, the Convivio Association, devoted to studying the poetry of songbooks, is organizing the international congress Poetry, poetics and literary culture at the University of Verona. Teachers from universities in Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands will be taking part in the congress, the fifth organized by the association, and in the context of the events organized for Llull Year it is planned to present the translation into Italian of Ramon Llull’s Llibre de les bèsties. The same presentation will also take place at the Ateneo Veneto, in Venice, on 18th February.




The plenary speech of the 5th International Congress of the Convivio Association will be given by Professor Vicenç Beltran, of the Università la Sapienza de Roma, entitled Genetic critique of 15th century poetry: Joan Berenguer de Masdovelles.

Also taking part in the congress, among others, will be Adriana Camprubí, a lecturer at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, who will give the speech When the sacred becomes profane. From Saint Martial of Limoges to the troubadours; Marta Marfany, of Pompeu Fabra University, with The reception of Dante and Petrarch at the end of the 15th century: poetic translations into Spanish; and Tomàs Martínez, of Jaume I University, with the speech Bernat Fenollar in the songbooks.

Another of the events to be hosted by the University of Verona in the international congress Poetry, poetics and literary culture is the presentation of the volume Libro de le bestie. Traduzione veneta trescenta (2015, Edizioni dell’Orso), as part of the activities organized for the Llull Year.

The same presentation will also take place on 18th February in Venice, at the Ateneo Veneto. The presentation, organized in collaboration with the University of Venice, will consist of a conversation between the author of the translation, Marcella Ciceri, the author of the book’s foreword, Patrizio Rigobon, and various scholars from university circles.
