In an interview with CNA, the Associate Director of the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL), Àlex Susanna, announced that they are aiming to receive an invitation each year from one of the main literary fairs so that the literary patrimony of Catalonia, both past and present, can be visualized “in an efficient way”, since it has “great potential. In 2012, Catalan literature was the guest of honour at the Québec International Book Fair, while in 2013 it was the turn of Paris, while in 2014 it will be Göteborg.
In order to prepare for the fair, next June eight Swedish editors and writers will visit Barcelona to establish contacts with publishers, literary agents, authors and critics to “immerse themselves in Catalan literature” and formulate their proposals for 2014.
On this occasion, the focus will be exclusively on writers publishing in Catalan. Susanna believes that is essential that Catalan authors are known in Scandinavia, especially Sweden.

In parallel to this, for more than a year the IRL has been talking to Bologna Children’s Book Fair with the aim of illustrated children’s literature being the guest of honour.
