Literary Programme of Frankfurt 2007 Project

Frankfurt,

The Catalan authors who will participate in the literary programme during the period of the Frankfurt Book Fair have been chosen on the basis of the following criteria:
a) Priority is given to those with works that have recently been translated into German.
b) The presence of authors from all areas in the Catalan linguistic domain.
c) The presence of all literary genres, whatever their commercial success.
d) A work's potential for translation.
e) In the GeoGraphia interchange programme, knowledge of German or other foreign languages to facilitate dialogue, and in the Contraban de versos programme, recognition as translators of poetry.
f) German authors who are presenting works on Catalonia, or who have participated in the literary debates with Catalan writers, as well as other names from European literature.
g) Proposals by Catalan and German publishers.

The round table discussions in the literary programme have been designed to give form to the discourse of the literary programme (presented at the Frankfurt Fair). The authors taking part in it have been chosen for their suitability for the topics of the discussions. Evidently, the availability and willingness of each of the authors must also be taken into account. Furthermore, heed must be paid to the requirements of the Fair organisers and of those responsible for the cultural centres where the activities will take place. And the fact that there are authors who, although not present at the activities in Frankfurt, have been or will go to Leipzig, Berlin, Cologne or other German cities, within the general framework of activities as Catalan culture.

The final result is not exhaustive, it cannot be; but it does seek to be representative.
