Pau Alabajos, upcoming North American tour

Valencian singer, songwriter and activist Pau Alabajos will be touring some of the universities in the US and Quebec (CA) offering studies in Catalan language and culture with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull. The events will cover the history of the Nova Cançó, an artistic movement that promoted Catalan music and protested against Franco’s dictatorship in the 1960s and early 1970s, with songs from its main artists (e.g., Al Vent by Raimon, L’Estaca by Lluís Llach, Què volen aquesta gent by Maria del Mar Bonet, M’aclame a tu by Ovidi Montllor). 




Pau Alabajos [Torrent, Horta Oest, 1982) is a Valencian singer with four cds on the market and with a musical career spanning ten years behind him. He is currently the secretary of the Col.lectiu Ovidi Montllor ICOM), the association of musicians and singers from Valencia.

He started his artistic career performing on the streets of Valencia, playing his songs in the Old Quarter, outside El Micalet, the city's cathedral. In 2004 he released his debut album, Futur en venda (Cambra Rècords, 2004), which received the Ovidi Montllor award in 2006 for the best lyrics of a political song. In 2008 he edited his second album, Teoria del caos (Cambra Rècords, 2008), which was presented with the 2008 Ovidi Montllor Award for the best songwriting, the 2008 Enderrock award by popular vote for the best songwriting and the 2009 Muixeranga award by popular vote for the best album from the Catalan-speaking countries. In 2011 he produced Una amable, una trista, una petita patria (Bureo Músiques, 2011), which was given the Fundació Gaetà Huguet award for the best cultural production in 2011.

Pau Alabajos has performed his songs in many cities throughout the region as well as on different international stages.
