Dividing his time between New York and Barcelona, Lleo's body of work is about fragility, vulnerability and the tension between the substance. Working with sandstone in his 2017 sculptural installation on Park Avenue, New York, as well as with oil on canvas and hand-pressed paper from Nepal and Bhutan, each of these mediums, in their own right, have the ability to tear or crumble with the slightest tremor or disturbance. The exhibition will remain on view until June 15th.
Lleo's last major exhibition in NYC was Morpho's Nest in the Cadmium House; a site-specific installation of large-scale sandstone works on Park Avenue between 52nd and 56th Streets during spring-summer 2017. The installation has traveled to Barcelona and will be unveiled in April in front of the Palacio Real de Pedralbes (Pedralbes Royal Palace) and will remain on view until 2026.
