TEAM

LEVE

Leve was born as an audiovisual production company. Today it collaborates with other teams and organizations on architecture projects, urbanism, cinema, events, cultural and educational projects, and activism. One of their methodologies is the “General Rehearsal,” which refers to actions that seek to temporarily transgress the established rules with those desired, with the aim of behaving in a manner consistent with social, economic and environmental challenges. In addition, they work on homeless housing projects, space improvements, and exploration of different territories' cultural vitality in collaboration with non-profit organizations and government entities. Leve's ultimate goal is to use architecture to promote positive changes in society. Daniel Cid collaborates with Leve on their research projects. He is an Associate Professor of Design at the Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton (UK). Eva Serrats has worked in the fields of photography, cinema, architecture and cultural management, and is also Adjunct Professor of projects (ETSAB-UPC). Additionally, she is head of strategic development at the Jordi Capell Cooperative of Architects. She was also president of the cooperative between 2020 and 2022. Francesc Pla is Head of Architecture, Engineering and Landscape Utilities of the Directorate of Public Space Services of the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona, as well as Adjunct Professor of projects at the Vallès School of Architecture (ETSAV-UPC).

THE UNION OF BARCELONA STREET VENDORS (TOP MANTA)

In 2015, a group of 200 Senegalese migrant street vendors founded the Union of Barcelona Street Vendors to defend the rights of migrants, denounce the injustices of the system and enter into dialogue with the administration. Two years later, they decided to create their own ethical fashion brand called Top Manta. Top Manta is a horizontally-structured space based on a social and solidarity economy with the aim of getting their compatriots off the street and offering them a future with dignity. Top Manta is a brand, but above all it is a loudspeaker; a loudspeaker to explain in first person the violence suffered by migrant and racialized people who are forced to survive by selling in the street while waiting for their work and residency papers. At present, Top Manta has become a leading social and political agent, reaching beyond the city of Barcelona with many collaborations around the world. Since its creation, it has managed to get more than 120 'manters' off the street, 25 of which work in the Top Manta sewing and screen printing workshop.
