The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) is the most important Asian festival in this genre. Black Hollow Cage is the first film by the Barcelona-based production company Asallam Films. Although it has not yet been released in cinemas (due at the end of this year) it has already been chosen at the BIFAN to compete with other international films for the Best Film in Asia award. The film’s world premiere will be on 7th July at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) in Switzerland, where it is also competing for the Best Film award.

The IRL’s collaboration is aimed at giving support to the fantastic film genre in Catalonia, all the more so bearing in mind that this year sees the 50th anniversary of the Festival of Sitges, where the film Black Hollow Cage will be screened at next year’s edition. The director of the prestigious Catalan festival, Àngel Sala, who is also a screenwriter, writer and film critic, will be on the panel of judges at the BIFAN.
