Culture.  Newcastle, 27/03/2015

Newcastle University has programmed “Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera: An interdisciplinary conference on the Balearic Islands” for 27th March. The conference will bring together academics, researchers, writers, postgraduate students, legislators and professionals from a great variety of disciplines, all with a common interest in the Balearic Islands. Those taking part include Tom Selwyn, Jacqueline Qaldern, Anna Nichols and Pau Obrador, from Menorca.

The conference will be useful for discussing issues such as cultural identity, literature, arts, music and economics based on the Balearic islands, placing special emphasis on the four main islands: Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera. The conference will mark the creation of the Mallorca Research Network, an interdisciplinary research network on the biggest Balearic island, which is the result of the shared passion and interest of Hazel Andrews, of Liverpool John Moores University, and Mark Casey, of Newcastle University.
